General Eligibility:

• Age: Pilgrims must be between 13 and 70 years old. Children below 13 and adults exceeding 70 years are strictly prohibited from participating.
• Health: Pilgrims must be in good physical and mental health. A mandatory medical certificate issued by a registered medical practitioner within 48 hours of the yatra commencement date is required for registration. The certificate must confirm the pilgrim’s fitness to undertake the strenuous trek.
• Citizenship: Indian citizens, foreign nationals, and NRIs are eligible to participate in the pilgrimage. Foreign nationals and NRIs must obtain a special permit from the Ministry of Home Affairs /Amarnath Shrine Board.
• Registration: All pilgrims must register online through the official Amarnath Shrine Board website well in advance. Registration opens in March/ April each year and closes a few weeks before the pilgrimage begins.
• Medical Checkup:
  • Age Group 13-45 years:
    • X-Ray chest PA View
    • Blood investigation: Hemoglobin, Random blood sugar, ECG
  • Age Group 46-60 years:
    • In addition to tests mentioned for age group 13-45 years:
    • Treadmill test (Stress Test)
  • Age Group 60-70 years:
    • In addition to tests mentioned for age groups 13-45 and 46-60 years:
    • 2D Echo

Additional Eligibility Requirements:

• Pregnant women with more than six months of pregnancy are not allowed to participate.
• Pilgrims suffering from heart ailments, respiratory issues, or any other serious medical conditions are advised to consult their doctors before undertaking the pilgrimage.
• Persons with any physical disabilities that may prevent them from completing the trek safely are not recommended to participate.

Exemptions:

• Physically challenged individuals with proper medical clearance and support arrangements can participate in the pilgrimage.
• Children below 13 years can participate only if accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.
