The Pahalgam route starts from Pahalgam, a beautiful town in the Kashmir Valley. The trek from Pahalgam to the Amarnath cave is about 45 kilometers long and takes about four days to complete. The first 15 kilometers are by road, and the remaining 30 kilometers are by trekking. If you start from Srinagar, the journey takes seven days. The trail passes through some of the most stunning scenery in Kashmir, including the meadows of Sheshnag, the glacial lake of Panchtarni, and the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas.
The Baltal route starts from Baltal, a small village in the Ganderbal district of Kashmir. The trek from Baltal to the Amarnath cave is about 16 kilometers long and takes about two days to complete. The trail passes through a more rugged landscape than the Pahalgam route, but it is also less crowded.
